This project focused on creating a digital alternative to the physical pregnancy booklet used in Brazil’s healthcare system. The goal was to deliver a straightforward and flexible interface that supports prenatal monitoring, promotes self-care, and helps mothers make informed decisions during pregnancy.

empowering expecting mothers
This personal project emerged from identifying common issues related to the paper pregnancy booklet. While prenatal care is free and widely accessible, relying on a physical document can be inconvenient and prone to issues like damage, loss, and inconsistent information. Inspired by the popularity of mobile devices, the project aimed to provide a digital solution that ensures better accessibility, organization, and overall experience for both pregnant women and healthcare professionals.

high level goals
01
Understand the challenges
Identify the issues pregnant women face with the physical pregnancy booklet, such as loss, damage, and poor legibility
02
Provide a digital solution
Create a digital tool that centralizes and organizes prenatal care information, making it accessible and reducing the risk of losing important data.
03
Promote engagement and well-being
Encourage active engagement from pregnant women by supporting self-care and providing easy access to clear, accurate information about their prenatal care.
I started by researching online accounts from women who had experienced difficulties due to losing or damaging their pregnancy booklets. I then created a survey targeting 16 women to better understand their experiences, interests, and challenges related to the booklet. The findings were enriched by a benchmarking analysis of existing pregnancy health apps. These three sources of information were synthesized into a value proposition canvas.
The result is a mobile app that offers a streamlined and user-friendly experience for pregnant women, ensuring better organization and easy access to critical prenatal information. It provides a more flexible and accessible alternative to the paper booklet, encouraging pregnant women to stay engaged with their health and make informed decisions.
